Milk & Honey's February 2026 State of the Blog
February's Schedule, What Worked, What Didn't, What's Coming, (February Community Event!)
Hi friends, foes, and other cult members,
The Hive buzzed through January trying to keep the Queen warm, through subzero degree weather and snowmageddon, I won’t deny that it was tough. There were deadlines that I missed. There was things that did not work or happen the way I wanted them to.
Let’s talk about what didn’t work:
Tuesdays were my downfall. Something about trying to write on Mondays— after work, after class, after homework— it just wasn’t sustainable. Which is why the below schedule switches all releases to Thursdays (don’t pay attention to this post’s Friday/late release).
The Analysis of The Killing of a Sacred Deer - This was on our January schedule but I never delivered. I wrote about 2 percent of the post and it was already two pages long. The post I wanted to deliver deserved far more time and energy than I had to give. I bit off more than I could chew so rather than posting something that was rushed, I stopped.
For these gaps, I wanted to provide transparency, which is the point of these monthly wrap ups. I am going to keep trying things. Some ideas look great on paper but don’t work in practice, but I will continue to experiment and keeping trying to do something great.
Let’s talk about what did work!
Milk & Honey surpassed 500 subscribers. I know we all like to pretend the numbers don’t matter but they really do. They matter because it means more people have found a place here. It means that the hard work, time, and energy, that I have been putting towards this newsletter is reflecting it. This is the first time that I have been able to grow a platform organically like this. I’ve written more consistently than I ever have before.
Most importantly, none of this would exist without you being here. Thank you.
I wanted to put a picture of me eating cake to celebrate 500 subscribers here but I am legitimately buried in snow and it’s freezing out! Picture of me eating cake is eminent!

Have you ever experienced love on the deepest level? Love that crosses the line from devotion to obsession? Write a love letter depicting fixation and cruelty. Let’s try not to romanticize it, I want the narrator of your letter be the bad guy. We don’t feel bad for them. We don’t idolize them. (talking about YOU, Joe! IYKYK) The letters are meant to reveal something twisted. Bonus points if they are addressed to me so that I can really get immersed. lol.
Rules!
Any length
Any format, prose, poetry, flash…whatever you want
Post anytime in February
I ask that you subscribe (either paid or unpaid this is open to everyone!) and tag Milk & Honey and in return I will restack with a comment on your work. I will include some of my favorites in the next State of the Blog! Those that I pick, if you’re not already, you will be featured in our recommended section.
Engage with one other submission if you can! Let’s support each other!

Ok, I think I turned up the heat on the twisted part. I hope...and flipped the tables on traditional thinking....
